1. Is it ok not being initiated and sharing spiritual knowledge that has been acquired and meditated on in one’s own practice? Or should we defer that to our own teachers?
Yes its OK.
It being OK doesn’t mean you will do it well or for the right reasons, though – so be cautious and humble.
2. What would you say is the appropriate name of the students and astrologers of your school of Vedic knowledge and experience? I only ask because in attempting to describe it myself I fumbled with my words a bit. I think it is different from the standard tropical or sidereal sciences of astrology and ultimately the correct one but I realize that is still my own perspective and opinion.
If you are asking about my school of philosophy, “Bhedābheda-Vedānta” is the proper name. (It means “Philosophical Conclusion of Oneness in Diversity”)
If I have to name my school of astrology, I find it impossible and counter productive. I have to use a sentence, at least. I would say, “Extremely Traditional Astrology – as preserved through the Indian tradition, which, surprisingly, is just as Tropical a zodiac as everywhere else in the world.”
So maybe distill that to “Radically Classical Astrology” if you like catchphrases?
3. Which leads me to the next my question, in reference calendars, dates, and the celebration of things in relation to the equinoxes and solstices. Do you have a calendar with the adjusted dates and is it relevant to observe these things with dates adjusted to the tropical calendar or should we leave well enough alone?
I don’t.
If there is a ritual, ceremony, celebration you want to observe properly – research how the date is described in an authentic text. And then you can know how to translate it to a modern timestamp.
4. My final question is a general one for myself and relatable to people of a similar heart to my own I think. What advice would you give to someone just watering their own spiritual grass, and in the midst of that they’re asked questions and feel inspired to help others with their own experiences and acquired knowledge.
Helping others and explaining things to others is usually the best way to help yourself and clarify your own comprehensions and understandings. Just be warey to be humble and not act or feel like a know-it-all.
