According to Śuka, Bhū is a sphere with an equator and two poles, and primary latitudes at 30° and 60° in each hemisphere. I would like to show you the astounding, astonishing beauty of this particular architecture.
Firstly, this simple method of spacing a latitude every 30° around a circumference is what the zodiac itself mirrors to become what it is. That alone is pretty amazing. If you think carefully about it, and know that the radius of Bhū is ~17 units (kilo-yojana), you will see that the 12 divisions each have 9 units of the circumference and the total circumference is 108 units. This gives you the number of astrological planets and the secondary zodiac division = 108 navamshas. Wow!

Secondly, there are three categories of basic shapes in geometry – circles, squares, and triangles. Let me show you how Bhū’s architecture is reinforced by all three!
Connecting the latitudes east-west and north-south, we get two rectangles and one perfect square.

Notice that the corners of the perfect square in the middle form a new, unique radial point for this circle? More on that in a second. For now lets move on to the next shape. Connecting each latitude-pair to each other and to the center of the circle, we get two triangles, isosceles and equilateral.

Now lets talk about that new point created by the perfect square at the juncture of the two rectangles (which, btw, is the bounding box for Meru, Bhū’s core). You may notice this point occurs at a very significant location, a location that may have seemed overlooked by our 3-based latitudes: 45°
Draw a ray from the center through these four points to find out where they intersect the circumference of Bhū, and then repeat the two steps above using these four new points. You will have created a perfect square and a right triangle!

The design of Bhū (Earth), which the design of Bhuva (Zodiacal space) mirrors, is jaw-dropping gorgeous. If you want to read and know a lot more about all this, please order a copy of my brand-new book: It Actually Makes Sense!
