Taurus – वृश (vṛṣa)

The primary traits of Taurus:^⁠1

• Beautiful: large eyes and lips, big hips and buttocks.

• Patient, long-term sense of happiness

Beautiful 

Taurus has a thick, healthy, strong, solid body. The facial features are especially large and prominent, especially the eyes and lips. The hips and buttocks are big and prone to sway, like a bull’s. The hair is long and beautiful like a horse’s.

Charming & Charmed 

Taurus loves beauty, so it is easily and enlessly charmed and facinated by things like art, fashion, music, and food – as well as the people who create such things. Taurus is also very charming, because it is very beautiful, creative and fertile.

Fertile & Agricultural

Taurus is fond of things that grow. It therefore likes children and family, as well as farms, gardens, landscaping, etc.  It is attractive because of its fertility and love for raising things. 

Able to Tolerate Stress 

Taurus can pull a lot of weight and bear a lot of burden for the sake of who and what it loves. Its tenacity and dedication sometimes seems stubborn, because it resists giving up on its opinions, decisions, and commitments.

Wealthy 

Taurus has a special strength for aquiring money, especially by providing items or services related to comfort, happiness, and enjoyment. 

Patient Sense of Happiness 

Taurus has a long-term concept of happiness, so is not charmed by new things. It is happy sticking with whatever it is already charmed by. It does not quickly or easily change its desires, goals, or opinions, so doesn’t change its mind easily about what it likes and dislikes. It is well-suited to commitment and responsibility, and is impressed by and attracted to dedication and fidelity. 

Taurus’ Sanskrit Name: Vṛṣa

The word vṛṣa means “strong and potent” and is therefore used as a word for “bulls.” The bull very clearly illustrates the key traits of Taurus:

• Bulls are healthy and strong.
• Bulls are fertile and essential for agrarian farming – generating fertility and prosperity.
• Although extremely strong, Bulls are not rash. They have a slow, patient power.
• Bulls are cooperative, easily domesticated.
